JAZZ ENSEMBLE plays a
widely
varied repertoire including styles of music from Duke Ellington to the
contemporary artists of today. A strong emphasis is placed on
sight-reading.
The group is open to all university students, regardless of
major.
The ensemble performs 3-4 times per year, including festivals and
community
concerts.

STRING
ENSEMBLE
is
a
non-auditioned
instrumental ensemble open to any UMHB student, regardless of
major. Repertoire is
selected to
expose
performers to a wide range of musical languages, as well as a variety
of
technical, intellectual, and aesthetic challenges. The String
Ensemble performs 2-3 concerts each year.

HANDBELL
ENSEMBLE is
an auditioned
ensemble open to any UMHB student regardless of major. Academic
credit
is earned for the class. The group rings a five-octave set of
Schulmerich
handbells and a four-octave set of Malmark choir-chimes. The
handbell
ensemble performs 3-4 concerts each year.
